Patrick,

Please check and see if your theater group does have a video on YouTube-that would be fun to see. I'm sure I would love your thater group as I feel laughter is such an important part of life. That's one reason I liked Jeanne-she made me laugh! I think a main reason I chose my husband was because of his wicked sense of humor. It must have been a good criteria as we have been married 38 years. Love guys in drag-whether it be Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis or the Vegas guys that look like the real thing. Actually,I am jealous because most of them seem to have legs much longer and shaplier than I ever had.

Well it is Derby weekend here so we American ladies are preparing to give the British ladies a run for their money in the hat department. Although it will be hard to compete with some of the concoctions displayed at the royal wedding. I must say that was fascinating to watch. You guys will be having an exciting summer between the Olympics and the Queen's 60th anniversary on the throne. Do you live right in London? I don't know why I just assumed that you did but maybe you live someplace totoally different. My husband's business partner just went to London with his wife and they rented a flat somewhere for two weeks to do an extensive tour of the British Isles. We just got back from a wedding in Atlanta and have tickets for a Cubs game on Sunday. We are with a group of 200 people going for a fundraiser that we are associated with called Operation North Pole. I hope the weather will be decent. Nothing's worse than sitting in the stands shivering. Have a great weekend. Looking forward to upcoming Quacker shows for some new Quacker fashions. By the way Quacker fashions are not airport scanner friendly.

Gail

Thanks Gail!

I will definitely get in touch with our Artistic Director and see if we have anything on YouTube yet - from what you've written to me, I think you would REALLY enjoy what we do - it's great fun!

Have a wonderful Derby weekend - what fun!  I was supposed to be at a race at Ascot this week - NOT the main Ascot race, but at the course for a charity race - but we've had too much rain the last 5 weekends, so it was cancelled - unfortunately - I was really looking forward to it since I've never been to that course!  Oh well, perhaps in the future.  And yes, it would have been great fun to see all of the hats!

You're right, this summer really is going to be extra special this year - especially with the Jubilee and Olympics going on.  We live in Central London - so we'll be in the thick of it all - can't wait!  I am such a city boy, so it's great to live right in Central London - so much fun!

Have a great time at the Cubs game on Sunday - I miss American baseball!  And I'll pray for warm weather for you!

You really 'Quacked' me up with your line about Quacker Fashions not being airport scanner friendly - I had never thought about that!  I am laughing out loud thinking of my mother being stopped at the airport in her new Quacker!  I'll have to warn her about that - thanks!

Have a super duper weekend!

Patrick,

Your Mother may well be cursing you under her breath for starting her on Quacker finery if she is getting patted down at the airport. However,it does seem fitting that she should be wearing the clothes considering your job. It sounds like she was resistant for awhile and once she got started she couldn't get enough. The clothes are kind of like potato chips-you can't just have one. I have a particular addiction for the Christmas items-I could start wearing mine in October and finish up in February and maybe still have worn everything twice. Every year I say I don't need anymore and something catches my eye. It's a good thing that I have a great husband and a large closet!

The Cubs game was very, very cold and was rain delayed 2and 1/2 hours. It's a good thing that it was a benefit and we all had our Operation North Pole Hoodies-(if only they were Quackified) I suppose the men would not have worn them then. My son and his wife did run into Gary Sinise there waiting to go up to sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame for the 7th inning stretch. It's funny because our daughter has a picture of her and Gary Sinise from when he sang a benefit for an organization that she used to work for. Must be some sort of cosmic Norusis-Sinise connection.

Yes I forget that there's no baseball in England. Is the closest thing crickett? Then you also have soccer instead of football. Interesting thought-do they have basketball in England? I'm sorry if I ask lots of questions but I am from a small town and not that well traveled and there's so much I want to know about the world and the people in it.

It's funny when you said that you are such a city boy because this past week I was just thinking about how I could never go back to city life. Chicago was great when I was young and single but I so much prefer the quieter pace of country life.I guess I was thinking about this after being in Atlanta one weekend and Chicago the next. The crowds of people really bothered me-something that I never thought about when I was younger. Chicago is close enough that we can take advantage of museums and cultural events like concerts and plays if we wish but then we can come back home to our quiet life. I also like to support the theater groups and the concerts that are put on by local groups and we've seen some surprisingly good things in our smaller venues. It just dawned on me that being from NY you probably saw famous people walking down the street all the time. I imagine no one pays much attention except for the tourists.

I hope you have something fun planned for your weekend.

Gail

Hello Gail!

First of all, I certainly do have something FUN planned this weekend - believe it or not, Tim Bice and his wife Karin are in Europe right now (Paris) for her birthday - and they arrive into London tomorrow night!  I'm spending all day with them on Saturday giving them my own personal tour of London - I expect that we'll be stopping in a pub or two!  And then on Saturday night, my partner is joining us and we're all going to dinner at a new restaurant that is supposed to be wonderful and buzzy right in the heart of the city.  I could only get an early (6:30pm) seating, so I'm sure we'll head out afterwards for a nightcap before calling it a day.  And then on Sunday, we have tickets for Tim and Karin to see the matinee performance of the musical 'Rock of Ages' - which is a fun show with music from the '80's - and is soon to be a movie starring Tom Cruise - Tim loves rock music from that period - he plays in a band actually in his spare time with friends - so he's going to have a great time at the show.  So yes, all in all it should be a really fun weekend with them.  I haven't seen Tim and Karin personally since before our beloved Jeanne passed away - so I'm really looking forward to catching up with them.  We speak on the phone a couple of times a month now that I'm doing what I'm doing over here and there - but it's always great to see each other face-to-face.  :-)

Yes, when I was living in NYC, I actually did see a few famous people.  YEARS AGO I was on the same elevator with Toni Tennille from the Captain & Tennille - she was VERY nice and friendly.  Also met Brooke Shield and her mother - in another elevator (believe it or not!).  Brook was LOVELY and SO sweet - her mother on the other hand was, well, not so nice.  And over here I've met lots of famous British people - and several on the streets - it really is great fun!

I'll let everyone know how the weekend is with Tim - and I'll give him all of your love!

Have a super weekend yourself!

Hi Patrick,

How was your weekend with Tim and Karin? Fun,I hope. The poor man has had a really tough year and he deserves to have some happiness and some fun in his life.

How was Rock of Ages? I am anxious to see the movie. It's getting a pretty big buzz. I know Constantine Maurules from American Idol was in it on Broadway and maybe even was nominated for a Tony. I'm not a huge Tom Cruise fan ever since his postpartum depression debacle with Brooke Shields but I understand he does a great job in the movie and I can admire him professionally even if I do not care for him personally. (I don't really get the Scientologists-their religion was started by a former science fiction writer) I hope you are not a Scientologist yourself and I have just stepped on your toes but if you are perhaps you can explain it's appeal to me. However, I do like Adam Shankman the director and Julieanne Hough is cute as a button and Russell Brand makes me chuckle so there are a lot of positives about the movie.

This weekend we are going to the racetrack for an outing. My husband sang in a boy's choir when he was a child and a teenager and there is now an alumni group from that choir that still sings together. Every year they sponsor a race at Arlington Race track and they usually then are invited to the winner's circle between races to sing a couple of songs. They often do the Navy Hymn and America the Beautiful. So we make a day of it and have a luncheon and place our bets(and usually lose). It's a fun get together though and they're predicting nice weather this year so I'm sure we'll have an enjoyable day.

Now,Patrick, I'm afraid I must talk some business. Many of us are looking for more short sleeve tops to wear in the summer months. All the 3/4 sleeves are still too long for hot weather. Please make the request on our behalf. I know it is too late for this summer but please ask the buyers to keep our desires in mind. We would so much appreciate it.

I hope you have another great weekend doing something that you love!

Gail

Hello Gail!

Thanks for checking in with me!  Yes, the weekend with Tim and Karin was GREAT!!!  I've just started another 'discussion' on here with a picture of the three of us and a bit of what we did - so make sure to check that out.

Rock of Ages was FUN!  Tim and Karin were quoting lines from it all day on Monday - so I know they really enjoyed it as well.  And you didn't offend at all - I am not a Scientologist - and I certainly respect anyone for their personal belief's - but like you, I don't know much about it all.

Sounds like you had a very enjoyable weekend - and how wonderful your husband's boy choir still gets together - and what a great event the races must have been!  I'm green with envy!

I hear you, I hear you, I hear you about the short sleeve shirts - and trust me, you are NOT alone with that!  :-)  We are actually working on more short sleeves  in the future - everyone loves the 3/4 sleeves - but we know that a lot of you want some more short sleeve shirts in addition.  One of our Quackers in AZ, Marilyn, is very good about letting me know this - so I've definitely passed on the comments to Susan and the entire design team - so be on the lookout.  I'm not sure when, but we will have more.  I showed one here in the UK last month and it flew out the door - so you're not alone with your wish/desire.  :-)

Thanks again for your wonderful note and for thinking of me.  I think that one of my next blogs on the Quacker Factory site will be about Tim and Karin's visit to London - plus I'll post more pictures with that blog - so be on the lookout.

Have a lovely week!!!

Patrick,

That would be nice if they would make more short sleeve tops. We appreciate you for bringing that to their attention.  I know here where I live the shorter the sleeve the better. It get's so hot here that a 3/4 sleeve is just a little much. I do own a few of them but usually wear them in the fall, winter and speing.  Sounds like things are doing well with the Quackers in the UK.  You are a very good host though and that will help to sell a lot of clothes.

  Have a great day!

    Colleen

Hello Colleen!

It's my pleasure to pass it all on - as I wrote earlier, we know it's something that you all want - Jeanne was always SO good about listening to all of you - and she instilled that in our whole team - so always feel free to share.  :-)

Thanks so much for your kind words - I'm having the time of my life hosting over here - it really is so much fun!

Have a Quack-Tastic week too - and a great weekend as well!

xx
